SFH? Spa From Home? (I made that up) 😜

Spa treatments and wellness options have become more varied by going global—Scandinavian saunas and hot tubs, the cold plunge from Scotland, Egypt, or Greece. Indian yoga and meditation. But you don’t have to wait for your vacation to experience spa luxuries. Kathy Corbet Interiors can help you create your own in-home spa retreat so you can indulge every day. Here’s how you can SFH!

Relax with an Asian meditation room

Adding a meditative feature to a room can be fairly easy with a water feature.  This Asian-themed room was used as a meditative space for my clients.  It was also the first room you see when entering the home and became a calming, pleasant way to come home or greet guests.

build a Home spa

This home spa experience includes hydration, bathing, a sauna, and hot and cold plunge tubs for the ultimate post-workout and wellness experiences. Step out of the gym, grab a cold water bottle, and hit the shower. The shower has a back door that exits into the “spa” so you can start the ultimate cleansing experience of dry heat to cold plunge. The design was inspired by 1 Hotel South Beach in Miami. My clients loved the vibe there with the natural, mossy art and sultry lighting.

If you want to experience this before you create the experience at home, I encourage you to visit Bota Bota in Montreal. You will be convinced, I am sure!

try a Cold plunge tub

Cold plunges have been known to reduce inflammation, improve your immune system and enhance mindfulness. Hydro Systems has found a way for you to turn their freestanding soaking tubs into cold plunge tubs. Aromatherapy and chromotherapy can be added as well. This is a very practical way to add that experience at home.

create a wellness room

We built a small enclosed space within larger bedroom for this homeowner to have a yoga and sauna retreat.

The sauna uses infrared technology and is easy to specify. Saunafin just needs the dimensions, and they will put all of the parts and pieces together.  For traditional heat technology in an easy to specify kit, check out Amerec

turn your shower into a steam room

Yes, you can turn your shower into a steam room. This homeowner went for a his and her design! Your steam shower is another prime place for including aromatherapy and/or chromotherapy that can all be controlled with the same technology as the steam. There are chromotherapy and aromatherapy options that can be added to the experience. Learn more about aromatherapy here.

finish with a towel warmer

The last feature to add is a towel warmer. Amba makes a variety of styles and offers models with electric and heated liquid options. This is not only a luxury, but it is hygienic too.  Quick-drying towels prevent mold, mildew, and bacteria growth.
