9 Sheer window treatments that bring the outside in

We like to walk the line between letting the sun shine in and privacy.  Sheer window treatments allow us to maintain openness and natural lighting while providing a bit of privacy.  The level of privacy can vary based on how we design each unique treatment for the space. Let’s see some examples.

Let us know which one is your favorite!

1. Great Room Drapes

These LHS Designs sheer drapes soften the edges of the window and gently filter the light coming in, creating a soft, diffused ambience. The connection to the exterior is maintained. These also help cool the room off by blocking some of the hottest summer rays.

2. Dining Room Sheers

LHS Designs, Scalamandre

Sheers can be layered with heavier drapes for added light control, insulation, or to enhance their decorative appeal.  In this dining room the goal was to allow natural light in during the day and mask that black mirror look that the windows take on at night.

Cowtan & Tout, LHS Designs

We love every bit of light pouring through this window.  We used an embroidered sheer lined with a sheer to give our formal design body and richness without sacrificing any light.

4. Full Sheers Bedroom

Complete privacy and black-out were not needed in this primary bedroom so we did super full sheers (the fuller they are, the more privacy you get) with an embroidered tape trim valence to complement the decor.

5. Closet Cover

The adjacent closet got the short version.

6. outdoor sheers

We used outdoor rated sheers in different opacities to give a wide stripe look to these and to provide a little more privacy at eye level with the neighboring rooftop.

7. cafe sheers

Another rooftop installation called for drapes that would block the view of the unsightly rooftop air conditioners while still allowing the light to shine through.

8. sheer shade

We layered a sheer shade under blackout shades for this primary bedroom.

9. vanity sheer shade

This vanity area is warmed up with the embroidered sheer soft London shade.  We lined it with a sheer as well to let in a maximum amount of light and provide the body that makes it soft, relaxed and elegant.
