anatomy of a luxe bath

The goal

Our client wanted a tropical escape with references to nature everywhere. Part of this tropical transformation needed to include a steam shower and chromotherapy.

Before

We started with plumbing fixtures in all of the right places, but they were also very dull and grey.

The Solution

(1) We launched the design theme with a scenic wallpaper by Christian Lacroix called “Bagatelle”. From there we went suitably tropical with a (2) custom palm leaf glass mural for the shower.  We maximized the mural wall by (3) elongating the niches to create a picture window look, giving the illusion of looking out over breezy palm branches.

The Challenge

The home is a town home with fire walls separating the units.  This was the shower wall that we wanted to build niches into for storage.  Until demolition we had no idea what our limitations would be.

(4) We brought the ceiling line down over the shower to store the steam unit. This gave us plenty of room to insert the chromotherapy lights.  (5) And for a final luxurious finale we added a 12-inch overhead rain shower!

The Finishing Touches

(6) We installed tropical leaf printed drapes in an outdoor fabric.  (7) We placed a natural looking basket for towel storage.  A few tropical plants and a garden stool to be used as a tub side table pulled it all together.
