anatomy of a dining room, makeover edition

There’s nothing we love more than an amazing transformation and this dining room a great one. Let’s break down the project!

Here’s the “After” photo! Now, let’s see the “Before.”

The goal:  This dull and dark nook was to become the dining room.  My clients wanted more sunshine and a fireplace that begged you to gather ‘round.

Our solution:  (1) We ripped out the tiny windows and built ins and added large windows.  (2) The colonial style fireplace was clad in porcelain tile with an aged copper patina(3) We updated the light fixture and added (4) luxe window treatments by LHS Designs in a coppery ombre damask.

The challenges:  To achieve their vision, we had to squeeze a lot on that one wall, but in the end, we were able to balance it out nicely.  The trickiest part was covering the many planes of the brick neatly and cleanly with tile. Mosaic Home Interiors did a great job.

How I styled for this photo:  (5) We went for simple styling and lined up votives in graduating sizes. We balanced each side of the focal wall with fiddle leaf figs and added a fire.
