Unconventional uses for wallpaper

Think wallpaper belongs only on the classic four walls of a room? Think again. My designs consider every surface and every angle in the room and I love finding unexpected ways to add style. I am also practical and strategically place materials for functionality. Other times it is my quirky sense of humor that inspires my designs. These are some of our favorite designs that have incorporated wallpaper in creative ways.

Ceiling

This forgotten surface can do so much to complete a design and cozy up a room. Our clients love that we make them look up!  This handmade and custom colored paper is from Vahallan. It adds a nice contrast and fun pop to this eclectic design.

Entry accent

Entry halls and foyers should always reveal something about the home you are about to enter.  For our own studio we went for surface texture and an amazing wallpaper mural by Kerrie Brown in Australia. We hope it feels welcoming, interesting and stylish—a taste of what it’s like to work with us!

Fireplace Accent

We turned this long narrow fireplace into a beautiful focal point by adding a horizontal pattern with an organic undertone.

Door

Plain slab doors are perfect for some attention.  This eazywallz design is from my crib! This brand of peel-and-stick wallpaper and murals is so easy to apply.

Tiger bar top

Peel and stick vinyl can be an economical and quick fix for an eyesore.  We took this tiger pattern and enlarged it for the bar top. It’s also by eazywallz.

Bar wall accent

A funky Christian Lacroix pattern was used to liven up the coffee bar at my studio.  The vibrant yellow is such a sunny accent against the black cabinets.

Laundry accent

Do you feel like you spend more time in the laundry room than you do in any other room? Make it special with a fun accent wall. The Candice Olson collection by York has an endless amount of inspiration and transforms a traditionally boring a room into a style icon.

Wall protection

This bedroom nook/drop zone was taking a beating. We did a clever cover up with wallpaper that looks like riveted metal. Until you touch it you think it is actually metal!

Magnetic wallpaper

This bunk room is for the grandchildren. We placed magnetic wallpaper on the partitions and made some colorful faux fur pieces to play with.  It’s fun and functional.
