Unique valence designs: How They can elevate your room

Window treatments are an essential element of any well-appointed room. They provide both practical and aesthetic benefits. Sometimes we design them to soften the edges; sometimes we want to create the illusion of a higher ceiling.

A valance can be the final touch that completes the look and ties the whole room together. We often use valances to add whimsy and sometimes we design them to really top off the room theme!

Here are 10 window treatments to envy and excite!

  1. A valance that adds style and visual appeal

Here is a window treatment to soften the edges and gently add pattern to the room. It also picks up the color of the island to pull the decor together.

2. moody and homey window treatment

These colors match the rich moody tones in the room. The traditional plaid is a perfect fit.

3. Bay Window Nook

Bay windows have so many angles that need to be contrasted with a little softness. Here, a rich print adds style and frames the outside view nicely.

4. Curve valance

This valance was mounted up high to emphasize the ceiling height. We trimmed it with ribbon in a motif to pick up on the other shapes in the room.

5. Feminine window treatment

This valance needed height and depth. At 10 inches deep we were able to let the drapes hang beyond the radiator. We added femininity by gathering the outer edges and adding a curvilinear trim.

6. Animal print valance

We mounted this one 10 inches over the window to fill an awkward void. The animal print pattern and red trim add to the jungle vibe of the room.

7. A little goth, a little glam

Nailheads give this valence a goth vibe, while the Tiffany blue gives feminine energy. Together it’s interesting and whimsical.

8. zig zag window treatment

For fun we followed the zig zag pattern and added beaded trim.

9. Asian-inspired trim

The Asian art and artifacts influenced the shape and edge trim for this valance.  Note how we interpreted it as a Roman shade on each side of the fireplace—this was an accommodation to the limited space on that wall.

10. Pagoda valance

We designed an over-the-top pagoda valance to round out theme for this meditation room.
