At Market: democratized chairs—a fit for everyone!

How do we know if a chair is comfortable? We try them all out!

Seriously. At market we sit on chairs galore, we note the comfort level and we note what each chair is best used for—dining, lounging, reading, watching tv.

The ongoing debate after each market is what chair wins as the best. There’s never one winner. Lauren likes deep and low. Marco Tomas always voted for a high seat and back. My favorite is a high but shallow seat (I am getting too old for low and deep!).

Indulge in this blog and join the team as we do our sit tests or contact us and stop by the studio to try some winners out for yourself.

Chair Sit-Tests At High Point Market:

Kathy at Wesley Hall: “I think I like it!”

The shape and nailhead detail of this chair is stylish and it’s comfortable to relax in.

Lauren at Chaddock: “perfect for a phone break”

We loved the back detail of this chair, but couldn’t recommend it until we decided it’s actually comfortable for conversation or a little screen time.

”This chair rocks!”

This is such a chic take on a traditional design.

Kathy: “I am kind of digging the feel of being on a pedestal!” My expression has nothing to do with the comfort of the actual chair. I am wondering how I get back down!

Market notes

We do seriously take notes on all of them.

Back at the studio, we put them in a spreadsheet for future reference. This is how we are able to find just the right piece to match each client’s individual style needs and comfort preferences.

Now let’s visit my Richmond Interior Design Studio

Wesley Hall’s Signature series is our number one go-to. We make this into sofas, chairs, sectionals, etc. I prefer it with a spring down cushion. It sits high and not too deep.

Taylor Made by Taylor King gives us so many design options. We made this one with a deeper seat.

Studio C by Chaddock offers this cool new swoop arm. This can be made as a sofa too. Note the angle of the back.

Motion furniture is a growing category. So many homeowners hate the look of a recliner until they see this one from Sam Moore!
